I experience the same bug with my game. When it happens it mostly happens in the first 5 minutes after launch. Of the last 20 times i tried to play
the game only a single time the game didn't crash after the first 5 minutes.
Currently I have no mods installed.

My PCs details:
OS : Windows 10 1903
CPU: AMD Ryzen R9 3900X
RAM: 32GB
GPU: AMD Radeon RX5700XT

Since the last comment i updated Windows, KSP and my graphics driver, but the issue persists. Actually it even got worse, currently the game crashes even before i can launch a save.

Game Version 1.8.1

My PC Details:
OS: Windows 10 1909
CPU: AMD Ryzen R9 3900X
RAM: 32GB
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700XT
GPU Driver: 19.50.15.01-200117a1-351045E-RadeonSoftwareAdrenalin2020

If you are running mods, please install the mod: ZeroMiniAVC, and restart the game two times. This mod removes any/all MiniAVC.dll files which is seriously broken in 1.8. Doesn't hurt to leave ZeroMiniAVC installed, that way if you install or update any mod it will clean up for you

I have the same problem since updating to 1.9.0. I get the dialog shown above and then exits. No log file is written. Tried both updating an old installation and a brand new installation in new directory, same problem.

Windows 10 Pro (1903)
Intel i5
16GB
GTX 680 GPU

Thanks.

I have same problem.

Specs:
win 10 pro
intel i5-2450M
ram 6GB
intel HD Graphics 3000 switchable AMD Radeon HD 7650M 2GB

When I run KPS on HD Graphics no problem.

When I run KSP on AMD Radeon:

1.8.1 version: I can run KSP without full screen and without full resolution.
1.9.0 version: I can't run KSP even trying different settings.

Vanilla installation.

Failing for me on an older AMD APU laptop. No mods installed. Fresh reinstall of KSP 1.9.0 from Steam.

Windows 10 Home (1909) 64-bit
AMD A8-4555M APU
12GB RAM (9.2GB usable after APU reservation)
Radeon 7600G (in the APU) with secondary Radeon 8500M; 1366x768 display

I haven't used this laptop in Windows for quite some time. Windows Update initially destroyed my AMD graphics drivers because the older APU requires old AMD drivers. Oddly when the AMD drivers were broken and it was using the Microsoft software renderer for 3D the game did work - at a frame every few seconds. When I resolved the driver problem (DDU from Safe Mode then install the correct drivers), I get the Unity error box almost instantly - before the game even switches to full screen or opens a window. Doesn't matter if I run it from Steam, KSP_x64.exe, or Launcher.exe.

Reverting to KSP 1.7.3 through Steam does work successfully on this machine.

Unity Player.log and DxDiag output attached. No KSP.log file or crash log is created.

Testing further versions:
1.7.3 - works fine, both windowed and full screen
1.8.0 - fails immediately, both windowed and full screen
1.8.1 - fails immediately, both windowed and full screen
1.9.0 - fails immediately, both windowed and full screen

I wonder is it an incompatibility between Unity 2019.2 and some graphics drivers. My AMD drivers are very old - but the latest that my hardware can tolerate. Perhaps others might have some success with a graphics driver uninstall (with DDU) and reinstall with the most recent or most recent WHQL available for the hardware?
