Bug #2347
Spacecraft orientation is not preserved with first quickload
100%
Description
Version 0.23.5.464, fresh install and no mods or addons.
Reloading a quicksave for the first time does not preserve a spacecraft's orientation. However, reloading the same quicksave immediately afterwards does restore the orientation.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Switch to any craft in orbit from the space centre
2. Orient the craft with an easy reference point (e.g. prograde/retrograde)
3. Quicksave
4. Nonphysical timewarp ahead in the orbit (enough to move off the reference point)
5. Reload quicksave (observe orientation is wrong)
6. Reload quicksave a second time (note corrected orientation)
It appears that the incorrect orientation which is loaded the first time around is the orientation the spacecraft had immediately prior to the reload (at the end of step 4). The orientation loaded the second time is the correct version (at the end of step 3).
Screenshot after the first reload (step 5):

Screenshot after the second reload (step 6)

This issue happens with any spacecraft and is easily reproducible.
The bug is also present when switching to a different spacecraft from the one quicksaved and timewarping. The common factor appears to be that enough time has passed since the last quicksave to noticeably change the orbital position of the quicksaved craft.

Sorry but this doesn't to be as reproducible as you suggest. Every time including the first that I reload a quicksave my orientation returns to the original saved heading. Do you have any mods installed?

No mods installed. It looks like I wasn't quite rigorous enough with my testing - ships close to Kerbin don't seem to experience the bug. However, ships far away on highly eccentric orbits DO experience the bug. I have a lot of ships on highly eccentric orbits, so I noticed the bug being consistent when switching between 3 or 4 of them.
Here is my persistence file:

Try loading up "Goliath VII Probe" and following the steps above. (Several other ships work as well.)

Ok a high elliptical orbit with AP over 1000km did the trick, saved with craft pointing retrograde and then warped forward so craft was pointing off retrograde. On first quickload ship no longer pointing retrograde but was on second load.
