maneuver node misses planetary intercept

Description

KSP causes a maneuver node to move when performing a planetary transfer just as it gets to the intercept. This causes the maneuver to miss the planet completely.

I originally reported the issue to the MechJeb developers.

But, the developer claims that:
"The node moving is actually a stock bug and I can't do much about it."
