Sound related exception stop pause menu from working

Description

Unable to pause game or access esc menu.

Every single time that I alt-tab away and come back to the game I loose the ability to pause the game and thus return to the space center.
Sound is not even enabled, I play with the game on mute.

Please catch the exception and stop it from crashing the call.
