Description

When using lights on the launchpad it glitches. The glitch only appear after a few lights are used in my case light number 9 triggers it.

To reproduce:

Point more then 8 m.k. I lights towards the launchpad from towers or something that avoids lightning up the edge but lights up parts of the ground of the launchpad object.

Notice that the when the last light shines on the surface odd light glitches appear on the ground of the launchpad object.

I have attached a save where this happends to me. To see this enable the disabled light on the light tower that is pointing to the backside of the lanchpad. Also attached two pictures one showing the glitch and one showing the same situation but with one light off and no glitch.

System tested on:
Linux Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit
Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT
Nvidia binary driver 304.43

I'm not sure this is a bug so much as normal game behaviour. By default, the game will only render eight light sources simultaneously. You can change this amount in the main settings menu though before you load your save file.

Ahh didn't know that, thanks for the info.

But even in that case I still think it is a bug with these effects when having to many lights, the game should just not render the lights exceeding the limit.

I have noticed that some light sources does shutdown as excpected when there is more then 8, but these seems to just bug out in the way described here. Could be a difference between illuminator mk I and mk II I'm not sure.

The behaviour i've seen seems to be that the spotlights get rendering priority over the area lights. When I ran into the issue before, before I cranked the amount of rendered lights up to maximum, was that the floods would quit being rendered first, despite being closer.

Could be correct that the spotlights get priority yes. Still a bug as there are absolutly no light source pointing any where near the direction that get the glitch lightning in the pictures above.

I hade area lights pointing straight up on the towers and just deactivated them to see if that changed the behaviour it didn't still same glitch as in the pictures.

Please retest in a current version of KSP and ensure your pixel light count is equal or higher than the number of lights you are deploying.

Still in 1.1.X. Looks like maybe it's converting the water tower light into an area light or something.

Raising the point light limit solves this issue, indicating that it is caused by reaching the point light limit.

Tested on Linux 1.1.3

Further testing shows this is just your light limit set too low, marking as not a bug.
