Bug #500
Decouplers don't work properly when placed with the other side towards the root node
0%
Description
As you can see in Sshot1 and Sshot2, when the decoupler is placed rotated by 180 deg or from above, so that the direction that is normally attached to the decoupled part, is attached to the rest of the ship (and vice versa), then there is no explosion after decoupling and the decoupler itself stays stuck to the ship.
When it is placed normally, all works as it should ( Sshot3, Sshot4 ).
This is not a big issue when you place decouplers on the bottom of your ship. But it becomes very annoying when you try to place them from above. Then the buggy direction is the default one, and because from most decoupler's textures you can not easily tell which way is up, you will notice only after trying to use them.

This is a designed feature of the decoupler. As of .18.2, decouplers detach from a specific node, allowing them to be flipped one way or the other.
- "Decouplers now break the connection at a specific node, instead of breaking the connection to the parent part. This enables choosing which side will remain attached.
There are arrows on each decoupler showing which side is the decoupling side. Your graphics settings are low enough for it to be nearly unrecognizable. See attached.
The explosion is from the octagonal strut contacting the launch pad and being destroyed (confirmed via flight log).
