Description

I was playing Kerbal Space Program 1.0 in science mode, and after landing a rocket on Kerbin with a parachute (and the engine blowing up on the landing) I decided the EVA to get a surface sample of the ocean to get more science. I went EVA, and after dropping from the pod (about 10 Metres) Jeb hit the ground and didn't die. However, as soon as he bounced, the screen went black, but the UI remained. The music started playing louder, and all the figures on my height to the planet went blank.

History

Reverting the flight brings back the correct figures and Jeb in the bottom right corner, but the camera is centered in the middle of nowhere. Looking at the planet map also has a camera in the middle of nowhere.

Please attach your output_log.txt file, those are almost always useful in diagnosing problems. Instructions on locating that file can be found here
http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/92230-%21%21%21-PLEASE-READ-BEFORE-POSTING-%21%21%21-Stock-Support-Bug-Reporting-Guide

Also, are you using any mods?

Finally, are you noticing any other odd behavior with that particular save now? Actually, a copy of the persistent.sfs file for that particular save might be handy as well. The results you are describing look similar to another bug that popped up recently. Again, please attach your output_log.txt file.

I had this very same problem in Sandbox mode. I had been trying out the new mining tools near the space centre, I took one of my Kerbals on EVA, and when he fell off the mining rig, (From about 5m)he seemed to fall through the ground, then everything went blank, just like in the screenshot above. Reloading didn't work, and when I went back to the space centre, the camera focused on blank space. No planets, no craft, just the background.

In the end my solution was to delete the save file and restart the game.

I have no mods installed, I'm running windows and I downloaded KSP 1.0 through Steam.

Hope this can be fixed ok. :)

(Unfortunately I can't provide the save file as I deleted it. If I get the problem again though I'll upload it.)

Cheers :)

Does this link describe the same problem?

No, it does not, as the game did not crash. Do logs from previous sessions get overwritten if you play the game again? Also, I notice no strange behavior from my save file.

Closing this report out for now. If you find it is still occuring in the latest version of KSP please open a new report (and this one can be linked to it.) For best results, the wiki contains really useful info for when creating a report http://bugs.kerbalspaceprogram.com/projects/ksp/wiki.
