Bug #3917
Tylo 'Major Crater'
100%
Description
The biome map of Tylo indicates 3 different 'Major Crater Biomes'. However experiments completed in those biomes count it as 1 biome (doing a surface sample in one biome will count completed for all 3). Additionally the science archives doesn't show any points for the science in that completed for a 'Major Crater' (0 science earned even though the 1 experiment is shown 3 times as somewhat completed).
A clue is in the save file. The 'Major Crater' tag 'surfaceSample@Tylo[RAIL]MajorCrater' do not indicate a unique biome name/tag.

This is intended. There are 3 locations which are considered to be major crater biomes on Tylo. If you research one, the others are not considered separate.
Minmus is another example of this. Several biome types can be found in multiple locations on Minmus. For the purposes of science, exploring one biome location is the same as exploring the same biome in another location.

That would make sense if the biome map showed the same color for the biomes. However the science archives verifies the issue I'm pointing out.
Sometimes its 1 biome (as per science experiments)
sometimes its 3 biomes (biome map and science archives)

Ok, went to Tylo, you are right, that is odd. Game registers 3 identically named 'Major Crater' biomes in science archives. Landing in any of the three 'Major Crater' biomes fills the science for all 3. Regarding science rewards, the game treats all 3 like the same biome, once you get the science from it you don't get any further science, even if you reposition to one of the other 3 'Major Craters'.
I'm going to venture a guess here. I suspect that the original intention was to have the 3 craters be separate biomes, but the final tweaking got left off during the release of 0.90. So part of the game thinks there's 3 separate biomes, while another part only recognizes one.
I apologize bigorangemachine, I didn't really understand exactly what you were getting at in the original post. Thanks for posting back to clarify!
By the way, I cheated and used the 'show biomes' function from the Debug menu. Tylo's 3 'Major Craters' are colored blue, yellow, and yellow-orange from the biomes cheat, they are all roughly the same size and very close to circular.
