Bug #3322
Craftfilter locked in Mapview on context switch
100%
Description
The Craftfilter (The hidden bar the top of your screen when in Mapview) becomes locked for no reason and does not accept any adjustments.
This happened twice for me during a playtime in .25 of about 1 hour, so it seem pretty common.
Attached a picture of the Bar in question.

Could you please elaborate on the steps you performed prior to the bar locking up?
A copy of the logs would be useful too.

The first time I ran into this I was jumping from one craft/flag to the using map mode.
After I took the attached screenshot I was able to select a different craft-type again.
On the second appearance i launched a craft sub-orbital and switched to mapview over kerbin.
After I tabbed out to windows and got back into the game I was also able again to change another craft-type.
What logs can I provide?

You haven't specified which OS you are on, so the log names and locations are different.
Please check this guide for more information.
Is this happening in an existing save pre 0.25 or a new game?

Sorry, Squelch
OS is Win32
It happened in an old save from .24.x and a fresh one in .25

That's no problem.
Your logs:
ksp.log - found in the game installation folder
output_log.txt - found in the KSP_Data folder

Are the logs static or do they change as the game progresses?
Because I went on since the issue occured.

EDIT: The logs are actual, it happened again.
I tabbed out to attach the logs, went back into the game to rescue the kerbal but he was not visible because only the rocket was displayed in mapview.
Then I tabbed out to write this, went back into the game to check if alt+tab fixes it. And it does fix it.

So it's an issue that is caused by tabbing out of full-screen KSP?
#9 Updated by MalfunctionM1Ke about 10 years ago
I dont know if tabbing out is the cause but if definetly tends to fix it.
Yes, fullscreen KSP.
It looks like that "refreshing the UI" by tabbing out and in fixes it, but that is just me guessing.

I can't see anything suspicious in the logs apart from a few errors during editing, and I can produce pretty much the same log without the observed behaviour. However, I have not been able to reproduce the problem so far.
With the absence of logged errors, and the new report #3325 which does mask use of the filter bar, the two look like they have similar origins. The altimeter partially appearing in the wrong scene is known and reported elsewhere.
May I suggest running KSP in a full resolution window to see if Alt-Tabbing from full screen is the cause? Simply adjust your graphics settings, deselect the fullscreen option and set resolution to the same as your desktop.

Will do as soon as I get home, Squelch.
I am thinking about putting my whole install on an ftp Server so you guys can get a closer look.
Is there anything else I can provide?

The same issue happens in Window-mode.
But it fixes itself when I change to another window and back again.

Thanks for the information. I'm not sure your complete installation would be useful. However, your save might help in reproducing this problem.
Would you mind zipping up your save profile (the complete folder named for this save) and attaching it?

Sure Squelch,
but keep in mind that it happens in other Savegames as well.
Savefiles attached. Hope Winrar is good enough :)

After some testing on other reports, I have been able to reproduce this on Win64
Context switching from KSP to another program can leave KSP otherwise functioning, but the filter bar is non operational.
This can be either Alt-Tab from fullscreen, or operating the mouse outside of KSP in windowed mode. When the filter bar is found to not work, another context switch from and back to KSP will restore correct function of the filter bar.

I am glad you could reproduce it. I was wondering if it was just me.

Noted. This will be forwarded to the developers now we have an exact reproduction recipe.

Thanks, this problem is confirmed as universal.

Experiencing this issue in v0.90.0.705 32-bit with no mods/addons on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
Bringing up the navball in mapview seems to make the craftfilter functional again...

Closing this report out for now. If you find it is still occuring in the latest version of KSP please open a new report (and this one can be linked to it.) For best results, the wiki contains really useful info for when creating a report http://bugs.kerbalspaceprogram.com/projects/ksp/wiki.
