Bug #2858
Numerous Claws (Advanced Grabbing Units) anywhere in the scene cause inordinately low framerates.
100%
Description
How to replicate:
1. Open VAB or SPH.
2. Select a structural part (ideally one with a low polygon count) as a base.
3. Begin placing claws until frame rates begin to reduce. (usually between 10-15 claws. 20-30+ with a good computer)
When numerous claws are anywhere in the scene, even in the editors or outside of physics range, they will cause excessively low frame rates. On most computers, the frame rate will begin to become noticeably lower if there are ten or more claws in the scene. On higher end computers, twenty or more claws may need to be added before the frame rates will be noticeably reduced. Monitoring of GPU usage while running the game with claw-induced low frame rates indicates that the reduced frame rates is not related to the rendering of the claws. Testing of docking ports in a similar manner to that indicated above revealed no reduction in frame rates.

Other notes:
According to another user on the forums, the dish antennas (which has a larger .mu file) also reduce frame rates when placed excessively on a craft. However, the reduction is nowhere near the level being caused by the claws (32 dish antennas reduce frame rates to 40 fps from 60, whereas 32 claws reduced it from 60 to around 10 fps), and only occurs when the parts are in view of the camera.

I have updated the ClawsAreDodgy.zip linked above to include Dish_32.craft

Clarification of a potentially confusing sentence in OP:
The dish antennas only reduce frame rates if they are in view of the camera. Claws reduce frame rates at all times when in the scene, even when not in view of the camera, and to a far greater degree than the dish antennas.
