Bug #2806
Full System Crash
100%
Description
I experience a full system crash on ubuntu 14.04 when running KSP. The crash appears shortly after loading the game. I have had it occur as the game selection screen is loading and also in the space centre UI.
No errors are shown. All applications freeze and only the mouse will move. An attempt to close KSP by switching to the console only results in the mouse disappearing. The system is still accessible remotely via ssh. Sound continues to play.
Attached are any log files which seemed may be applicable. The apport dump was too big to upload so is stored at [[https://www.dropbox.com/s/6x1zvr7z6exg9wq/_opt_SteamLibrary_SteamApps_common_Kerbal%20Space%20Program_KSP.x86.1000.crash]]

Your GPU is locking up >>"[fglrx] ASIC hang happened"<<
Looks like a hardware (seen this many times due to GPU overheating etc.) / graphics driver bug to me.
Even if it is KSP triggering it, this should never happen so it's probably not a KSP bug.

Ah ok. I'll try to raise this with ATI. Thanks.

FWIW others have reported an issue with KSP causing excessive GPU load.. though that was an nvidia card so not sure if it's relevant: Bug #2499
If your GPU load / temperature goes nuts before crashing it may be related, however I can't reproduce it myself.

- Status changed from New to Need More Info
Please ensure your graphics drivers are up to date and retest this on a current version of KSP.

Closing this report out for now. If you find it is still occuring in the latest version of KSP please open a new report (and this one can be linked to it.) For best results, the wiki contains really useful info for when creating a report http://bugs.kerbalspaceprogram.com/projects/ksp/wiki.
