Kerbal Space Program

I was flying to Minmus when this happened. I was trying to create a maneuver, so I opened the map, and my rocket/satellite covered the screen, the orbital paths of the planets, moons and my other ships disappeared (they still orbited, but the path disappeared), I couldn't control my ship, and I couldn't get back to the space centre. This has happened once before when I was travelling to Mun. The only way to solve it is to back out of the game, close it and reopen it. The ship becomes useless and until it's fixed, the only thing I can do to that ship is terminate it as I had to do when I traveled to Mun. I don't want to have to do that again, so if you could fix this, I'd really appreciate it.
